“A hearty breakfast, the Swahili way”
Located right in the CBD, every Friday morning you’ll have a chance to indulge in a Swahili themed breakfast every Friday at Sarova Stanley’s Thorn tree restaurant. Featuring some of my favourite Swahili treats Mahamri, Mbaazi wa Nazi, Mandazi and much more delicacies from sweet to savoury.

Style
The Thorn Tree Café is an open air style bistro that is most famous for its acacia tree message board located at the centre of the restaurant. The acacia tree became a makeshift post box for travellers who left mail pinned onto its trunk. The style embraces grandeur victorian luxury fused with the warm smiles of African hospitality.

The Swahili Breakfast
As mentioned above the experience was a transportation to the coastal culture through the menu, Interior decoration and staff uniform. Which really added a nice pop of colour and personality to my Friday morning. I can’t say it did much for my Swahili though…. but I certainly enjoyed every minute of it.
Here’s a series of images from my experience and I hope you give it a go too.
Details
The Swahili Breakfast costs 2,500/- Ksh per person and is served from 6:30am – 10:00am every Friday.
