Strawberry Vanilla Iced Tea

Strawberry Vanilla Iced tea

I’m a fan of 4 O’clock tea and treats. I guess being part Luhya, I’m accustomed to drinking tea on the daily. Coupled with a love for food you know i’ll be having snacks with tea. Instead of having a piping cuppa I decided to chill things down with some strawberry vanilla iced tea. Perfect for those hot summer days. Over the summer season in Nairobi it can get quite hot and dry. So staying hydrated is in order and iced teas are one of my favourite ways to stay hydrated without reaching for a soda or high sugar juices.  This strawberry iced tea is not only refreshing but smells like candy! Its the right amount of sweet and has beautiful vanilla notes infused in the Kericho Gold tea bags.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tea bags of Kericho gold Strawberry and Vanilla
  • 3 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 1-2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 & 1/2  Cups Hot water
  • 1- 2 Handfuls Ice
Method:
  1. Boil water, then add tea bags to a heatproof jug add pour over the water. Let the tea steep for 5 minuets.
  2. While the tea is still warm add in the sugar, stir until dissolved then steep in fresh mint.  I like to leave the mint steeping in for at least 10 mins before removing then adding ice.
  3. Top up with ice, stir and serve immediately.Garnish with more mint.

Enjoy

Tip: Before adding the mint gently rub the mint leaves between your palms to release the natural oils and flavour.
