Work, Eat, Play

From the beautiful scenery to the warm welcoming smiles, Machakos County has a certain vibe Nairobi could do with a bit of. It’s the perfect destination for a quick vaycay or that much needed RnR. Only about an hour away from Nairobi you can’t complain.

A weekend ago I was blessed to be working in beautiful Machakos and had the pleasure of staying at the Gelian Hotel.  Located in the heart of Machakos town the hotel has a nice clean modern style, catering to all your vaycay needs. It boasts spacious well lit rooms with super comfortable beds (that make you snooze your alarm enough times) a shower head built for luxury, and cute little details with the Gelian branding.

Ready to explore the town we arrived on Friday evening hoping to make it in time for a cocktail or two but ended up giving in to those comfy beds and called it a night. It being a Friday you’d expect to hear the music all through the night but you honestly won’t hear a thing. Come Saturday you’re ready to hit the town and go out in the evening. Surprise surprise, Club Euphoria is located right below the hotel. So there’s no need to decide on who’s driving or if your cabbing it, just at the push of a button the elevator has you sorted. How convenient!

All in all it was a great weekend getaway mixed with work, play and some much needed rest. Though we didn’t get to go sight seeing and visit Machakos Peoples park, it’s definitely a reason to go back and make it another weekend plan. So here’s to exploring Kenya, weekend getaways and great company. Machakos you’ve been great and hope to see you soon.

With love from Machakos to Nairobi.
